Rockets were fired towards Tel Aviv and its nearby areas as well as several towns in occupied territories, where sirens sounded and the Israeli regime’s Iron Dome was activated, Al Jazeera and Palestinian media reported Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, as saying.
Rocket attacks were also reported in Syria on Thursday, as tensions remain high over the Israeli regime’s relentless airstrikes in Gaza where more than 7,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed.
According to Beirut-based Arabic news network Al Mayadeen, the rocket attacks targeted the United States’ al-Shaddadi military base in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Al Mayadeen reported informed sources saying that the attacks caused explosions, prompting US fighter jets to fly over that region.
The news network also said that Iraqi resistance groups claimed responsibility for the rocket fire.
US military bases in Iraq and Syria have come under attack in the past few days, with resistance groups saying that the attacks are in response to the continued Israeli crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as well as Washington’s support for the regime in its war on the blockaded territory.
