‘Ground attack against Gaza will not bring Israel much success’

Tehran, IRNA – The representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement in Iran has argued that a ground attack against the Gaza Strip will not bring the Zionist regime much success due to the shortcomings of the regime and the resilience of the Palestinian resistance.

“It is true that the Zionist regime has a lot of equipment, including weapons and horrific bombs, but the realization of this goal is accompanied by many ifs and buts both inside occupied Palestine and outside it,” Nasser Abu Sharif said in an exclusive interview with IRNA.

Abu Sharif noted that all political and security circumstances lead to the conclusion that a ground attack by the Zionist regime against the besieged Gaza Strip is almost certain.

“They want to attack Gaza in order to destroy the resistance in the region,” he warned.

However, he hastened to add, “We saw in recent days how the resistance forces targeted a number of Israeli tanks, causing the soldiers and crews of the tanks to flee from the battlefield.”

It is possible that the scope of this war will widen and all other fronts get involved in the war, the Islamic Jihad representative maintained. “But in general, it must be said that the situation is uncertain now and it is very difficult to predict the end results.”

Israel waged a brutal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, a surprise attack on the occupied territories in retaliation for the Israeli regime’s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the Israeli onslaught on Gaza has so far killed more than 5,087 Palestinians, including 2,055 children, and injured 15,273 others.
