Iran’s para-athletes won 9 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze medals on Monday in the sporting event.
Iranian swimmer Sina Zeighaminejad and Shahin Izadyar each snatched two gold and silver medals in the Men's 100m Breaststroke - SB9 and 50m Freestyle - S10, respectively in the tournament.
Also, Hashemiyeh Motaghian Moavi (Javelin throw), Amir-Hossein Alipour (Shot Put-F11), Elnaz Darabian (Discus throw), Alireza Mokhtari (Discus throw), Saeid Hosseinpour (Rowing), Amanollah Papi (Javelin throw) and Meysam Banitaba (Judo) each gained gold medals.
Another Iranian para-athletes, Reza Hatami (Running), Vahid Ali-Najimi (Running), Zeinab Moradi (Javelin throw), Mehdi Olad (Shot Put-F11), Hanan Kaab Omeir (Discus throw), Asadollah Azimi (Discus throw), and Mohammad-Hossein Karimi (Discus throw) each received silver medals.
Also, Mahdiyeh-Sadat Hosseini (Taekwondo), Narges Javadi (Taekwondo), Maryam Abdollahpour (Taekwondo), Said Kouhkan (Judo), Sara Abdolmaleki (Rowing) and Rashid Masjedi (Discus throwing) each gained bronze medals for their country.
At the end of the first day, Iran now ranks second in the medal table with 24 medals and China leads the table with 83 medals and Uzbekistan stands in third place with 20 medals.
