Figures released by Iran’s House of Industries, Mine and Trade (HIMT) on Monday showed that Iran had exported 3.5 million metric tons worth $2.428 million worth of farming, livestock, fishery, and food products in the six months to September 22.
HIMT spokesman Rouhollah Latifi said that Iranian overseas agrifood shipments had increased by 2% in volume terms year on year in March-September, adding that exports of agrifood had accounted for 6% of the volume and 10% of the value of total exports from the country over the period.
Livestock, fishery, farming, and food products were responsible for $616 million of Iranian agrifood exports in the six months to late September, Latifi said, adding that shipments had risen by 37% year on year.
Exports of horticulture and arable farming products rose to $1.292 billion over the period, he said, adding that main agrifood exports from Iran included dairies at $345 million, followed by tomatoes at $159 million and fisheries at $140 million.
