Iran calls for strengthening economic ties with Belarus

Tehran, IRNA - Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber called for enhancing economic ties with Belarus and said that the level of trade and economic exchange between Iran and Belarus can be increased to $1 billion in a year.

Mokhber who is visiting Belarus at the head of high ranking official, met and held talks with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko in Minsk on Tuesday.

Referring to the economic ties between Iran and Belarus, Mokhber said that the economic ties between the two countries have not expanded proportionally to the high level of political relations.

He underlined that the two countries are determined to deepen and strengthen economic and trade cooperation.

Iran and Belarus should use national currencies in their exchanges and agreements, he said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to transfer the experiences and knowledge of the latest technologies of Iranian scientists to Belarus.

He appreciated the positive and appropriate positions of the Republic of Belarus on Iran in international arenas.

Golovchenko, for his part, expressed his country’s interest in developing ties between Iran and Belarus in all areas.

He hoped that Mokhber’s visit to Minsk would pave the way for transportation, oil, petrochemical, industrial and investment expansion.

Pointing to the industrial developments of the two countries in recent years as among the main plans of cooperation between Iran and Belarus, he said that Belarus is interested in enhancing cooperation with Iran in the fields of agricultural equipment and private sections.
