Belarus president calls on Iran to jointly stand against West

Tehran, IRNA – Referring to measures by Western countries to fuel the war in the Middle East region, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has urged the need for Iran and Belarus to jointly counter the Western attacks, according to reports by Sputnik and Belta news agencies.

Lukashenko made the remarks in a meeting in Minsk on Tuesday with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber who is in the Belarusian capital for a one-day visit.

Noting that the West is trying to direct the Middle East war towards Iran, the Belarusian president said that Tehran and Mink should cooperate more closely to resist the Western attack.

The Belarusian president expressed regret about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling on the international community to act immediately to stop the war and massacre in this region.

The Iranian vice-president, for his part, referred to banking exchanges, issuance of visa and launching direct flights as three important issues to be addressed by Iran and Belarus.

Mokhber condemned the Zionist genocide in Gaza, calling on the Belarusian president to stand against the oppressed people of Palestine to help put an end to these crimes.

Both Iran and Belarus are under unprecedented pressure of sanctions, Lukashenko said, adding that Iran’s experience in standing against pressures is valuable for Belarus.

He stressed that time is more significant than sanctions and pressures, calling on both Tehran and Minsk not to lose time.

Iranian vice president arrived in the Belarusian capital at the head of a high-ranking delegation earlier today.

Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Abbas Aliabadi, Oil Minister Javad Owji, and Minister of Agriculture Mohammad-Ali Nikbakht accompany the vice president during his visit to Minsk.
