Hossein Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a phone conversation with European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, during which they discussed regional developments.
“Unfortunately, between 300 and 700 civilians are martyred in Gaza every day, and due to the blockade of Gaza and the closure of the humanitarian corridor, it is not possible to send medicine and food to the residents of Gaza,” he added.
Borrell, for his part, said the expansion of tensions in the region is very dangerous and it is necessary for all parties to exercise restraint.
He said the European Union will continue to make efforts to end the war, adding that the EU stresses the need to open a humanitarian corridor to help the civilians of Gaza.
Borrell also highlighted Iran’s important role in reducing tensions in the region.
The Zionist regime launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged a surprise, unprecedented attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.
Hamas said that its operation was a response to the occupying regime’s intensified atrocities against Palestinians.
Nearly 2,800 Palestinians have been killed and 10,000 wounded in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, the Gaza Health Ministry said.
