The head of Tehran Beautification Organization, a subsidiary of the Municipality of Tehran, said on Tuesday that the relief mural installed at Tehran’s Jomhouri Square will be a testament to the crimes committed by states who occupied Iran during the World War I despite the country’s declaration of neutrality in the war.
“The British government caused the famine in Iran by hoarding food … They killed several million people and never apologized,” said Reza Sayyad.
Historic documents show some 2 million people died in Iran as a result of hunger and diseases during the Great War.
