Some arrestees in recent illegal gatherings of Iran’s Zahedan released

Zahedan, IRNA - Police Chief in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province says that some arrestees in recent illegal gatherings in the provincial capital city of Zahedan have been released.

In an interview with IRNA on Sunday, Brigadier-General Doustali Jalilian said that some arrestees in recent illegal gatherings in the provincial capital city of Zahedan have been released.

He underlined that the foreign media have been trying hard to hold illegal gatherings in recent weeks with the aim of perpetuating disturbances in the country.

Earlier, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that his government had been authorized to use the pardon power to release university students, cultural, sports, and media figures who have been arrested because of their involvement in the riots.

Foreign-backed riots erupted in Iran in mid-September after the death of 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, who fainted at a police station in the capital Tehran, and was pronounced dead three days later at the hospital.

Iran’s intelligence community has said several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have used their spy and propaganda apparatuses to provoke violent riots in the country.
