-- Jahangirian’s ‘The Monster’s Shadow’ released in Armenia
‘The Monster’s Shadow,’ a novel by Abbas Jahangirian, translated by Gevorg Asaturyan, was published in Armenia.
Jahangirian said, “This is the fourth of my works, translated in Armenia. Previously, ‘Hamoon and Darya’ was translated by Andranik Khachubian; ‘Farabi’ by Emma Begyan; and ‘Goodnight, Liana’ by Gevorg Asatryan.”
-- Minister urges arts development for kids
The 35th International Film Festival for Children and Youth began with an opening ceremony on October 6, at the Isfahan International Conferences Center.
The event saw the presence of Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili, along with officials, festival organizers, artists, and an audience of children and youths. During his address, Esmaeili expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gather in the unique city of Isfahan, known as the cradle of culture, arts, and civilization.
He emphasized that the festival provides a platform for the talented youth of Iran who aspire to progress.
-- Luxembourg releases $1.7b of Iran’s assets
A sum of $1.7 billion of Iranian assets were released in Luxembourg following a ruling issued by the European country’s Supreme Court.
After the ruling of the Supreme Court of Luxembourg, judicial obstacles to Iran accessing $1.7 billion of the foreign currency assets of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) were removed.

Masoud Atyabi’s comedy ‘Hotel’ has set a new record in Iranian box office, only one week through screening.
The film, an autumn screening in Iran, secured the first place in the box office pushing Karim Amini’s record-breaking comedy ‘Fossil’ down to the third row on the weekly box office.
-- Iran, Azerbaijan Agree to Build Railroad to Nakhchivan
The construction operation of the Aghband Road Bridge over the Aras River formally kicked off on Saturday as a new transport link between the East Zangezur economic zone of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Iranian land and territory.
Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, during his visit to Azerbaijan, met with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in order to launch joint transport projects and discuss regional initiatives for the stability and peace in the South Caucasus.
-- Iran to Produce ‘Mother Koniko’ Animation
Iran is set to produce an animation featuring a Japanese mother whose son was martyred during the 1980s Iraq-Iran war. ‘Mother Koniko’ is themed on the life of Koniko Yamamura, the mother of an Iranian martyr named Muhammad Babaei.
She changed her name to Saba Babaei after converting to Islam and became well-known in Iran as the only Japanese mother of an Iranian martyr who fell during the Iraq-Iran war.

-- IRGC chief: Those responsible for the Syrian military college attack will pay heavy price
In a message to Syria’s defense ministry and its army, the chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps condemned the Thursday terrorist attack on a military college in the central province of Homs.
Major General Hussein Salami offered his condolences over the attack and declared those responsible for the heinous crimes will pay a heavy price. “The perpetrators will have to face a strong response from the faithful warriors and fighters of the Islamic resistance,” he said.
-- Children’s film festival kicks off in Isfahan
The 35th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth opened in the central Iranian city of Isfahan on Friday evening. The ceremony was attended by Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili, the Governor of Isfahan Seyyed Reza Mousavi, the Mayor of Isfahan Ali Qassemzadeh, and the secretary of the festival Majid Zeinolabedin as well as a large number of children and youth.
“The festival offers a unique platform for Iranian children to unite and collectively aspire towards achieving great heights,” the minister said during the opening ceremony.
-- Archaeological dig uncovers ruins of Sassanid temple in northern Iranian village
A team of archaeologists in northern Iran has unearthed parts of a previously discovered fire temple, estimated to date from the Sassanid era (224 CE–651).
Located in Arfa Deh, a mountainous village in Savadkuh county of Mazandaran province, the fire temple is believed to be abandoned in the early Islamic era “because there is no sign of deliberate destruction in this structure and the fire pit [of the temple] is found intact”, archaeologist Abdolreza Mohajerinejad said on Friday.
