Iran parliament women's fraction criticizes engineered action of Nobel committee

Tehran, IRNA – The women’s fraction of the Iranian parliament in a statement described the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Narges Mohammadi as a political, immoral and anti-democratic act.

In a statement on Saturday over awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Narges Mohammadi, the women’s fraction of the Iranian parliament criticized the engineered action of the Nobel Committee and announced that the Nobel Peace Prize should be a place for restoring world peace, bringing nations closer together, and avoiding violence.

Unfortunately, in recent years, the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to warmongers such as Shimon Peres, Isaac Rabin, and Barack Obama, who played a significant role in imposing severe sanctions on Iran, that shows this prize is political and is awarded to the enemies of the free nations of the world.

In recent days, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to a person who has been politically active against the Islamic Republic of Iran for years and has inflicted more losses on the implementation of law in Iran, while opposing democratic processes such as elections.

Mohammadi's actions both seriously oppose the rule of law and the advancement of democratic processes in the country, and such actions are inconsistent with any peace and stability not only on Iran's territorial borders, but also at the inter-governmental level and have intensified aggressive and inhumane behavior in the form of imposing or increasing sanctions.

Awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to a person with such warmongering actions shows politicized measures imposed by the Nobel Committee rather than supporting peace, friendship, and humanitarian actions.
