Iran terms Iraq's measures against anti-revolutionary groups as insufficient

Tehran, IRNA – Iran's Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said on Saturday that Iraq’s measures against anti-revolutionary groups in the country is insufficient.

The Iranian general said that the strongholds of the separatist groups have been slightly moved away from the Iranian joint border with Iraq, while noting that the agreement between Iran and Iraq did not require a tactical movement of these groups to a more distant point, but it was about the full disarming of the groups.

“What does it mean that Iranian separatist groups are based in Iraqi Kurdistan and carry out all kinds of terrorist acts in our country and we have to keep a lot of forces on the border?” General Baqeri asked.

He said that the Iraqi officials share views with Iran that the issue has to be fully resolved.

It is now more than six months from an agreement between the top security officials of Iran and Iraq on disarming these separatist groups within six months.
