Iran, Saudi Arabia express readiness to conduct joint scientific projects

Tehran, IRNA - Deputy Minister of Research of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Peyman Salehi has emphasized that Tehran and Riyadh are ready to cooperate in joint scientific, technological, and research projects within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Salehi held talks with the CEO of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) Munir Eldesouki on the sidelines of the Science and Technology in Society forum (STS forum) in Kyoto, Japan, on Wednesday.

The two sides emphasized the importance of each other's countries in the Islamic world, expressing readiness for cooperation at mutual and OIC levels.

In the new structure of the Saudi establishment, the head of the KACST is considered the highest authority in terms of research and technology fields of the kingdom, who is responsible for supporting innovative and technological projects, as well as supporting and implementing research programs.

The Iranian and Saudi officials also underscored that the rapprochement between the two countries can pave the ground for the development of scientific exchanges in the Islamic world.
