During the meeting with Omari in Kabul on Monday, Mortazavi said that Tehran wants Afghan refugees in Iran to return to their homeland and calls on Taliban officials to adopt policies to encourage its citizens to return to their country to benefit from reverse migration and enjoy its manpower.
In a statement published on the website of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul, Mortazavi underlined that Tehran's ultimate goal is to help establish security in Afghanistan, fight terrorism, prevent internal strife, and to help Kabul move towards economic progress.
Referring to the number of illegal border crossings from Afghanistan to Iran, he called for increased surveillance by Taliban officials of common borders and human trafficking.
Omari, for his part, emphasized having close relations with its neighbors, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, to provide security and fight terrorism.
The US and some regional and trans-regional countries are unhappy with the constructive ties between Iran and Afghanistan and want to create tension in the region, he said, noting that the US and its allies are using various tools, including media and cyberspace to create tension between Tehran and Kabul.
