Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi marked the commencement of the new academic year (1402-1403) by inaugurating 10,000 new school classes across the country. The ceremony took place on Saturday in Nasimshahr, Tehran province.
In addition to the new classes, President Raisi also inaugurated three new schools in Tehran’s Baharestan County. The event was attended by Minister of Education Reza-Morad Sahraei and other Iranian officials.
The new academic year in Iran has officially begun under the motto “Powerful Iran, Powerful Schools”.
According to the Iranian minister of education, more than 16.5 million students are expected to attend schools across Iran this year, from whom 1.7 million are elementary first graders.
The minister also said that a record 30,000 applicants for the university entrance exam were admitted to teacher’s training universities across the country this year.
