In an interview with IRNA on Wednesday, Mohammadi Bakhsh said that Iran canceled all flights to Azerbaijan and Armenia until further notice due to the special conditions of the region and according to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).
He added that the flight cancellations aim at saving the lives of passengers and carrying out flights with full safety.
Azerbaijan has launched a new military operation in Karabakh which it says is in response to the deaths of two Azerbaijani forces by mines planted by Armenian soldiers in the region, AZERTAC news agency said, citing an announcement by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense.
While Azerbaijan says it is not targeting civilians, Armenian sources claim that so far 210 civilians are among the casualties including 12 children, TASS reported.
