Moayed Alavian said on Wednesday that Iranians aged up to 26 years old are rarely infected with HBV, which is a testament to successful efforts by Iran’s health system in recent years.
Alavian further stated that the World Health Organization aims to reduce new hepatitis infections by 90% and deaths by 65% between 2016 and 2030, adding that Iran has already reached these targets by carrying out a comprehensive national hepatitis B vaccination program.
Hepatitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the liver.
