In separate meetings with Nechervan Idris Barzani, the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, and Masrour Barzani, the prime minister of the Iraqi Kurdistan region on Monday, a range of topics were discussed, which included the Iraq-Iran security agreement, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and ongoing negotiations to resolve remaining issues between Baghdad and Erbil.
The regional situation and other topics of mutual interest were also reviewed.
Al-e Sadeq expressed gratitude to the officials of the Kurdistan region of Iraq for facilitating the pilgrims of Arbaeen, emphasized the importance of Tehran’s ties with Baghdad and the Iraqi Kurdistan region, and stressed implementing security agreements.
He also highlighted the need for strengthening and expanding ties between Iran and Iraq, as well as fostering constructive dialogue and interaction between the Iraqi Kurdistan region and the federal government.
Nechervan Idris Barzani reciprocated by emphasizing the importance of ties with Iran and acknowledged Iran as an important neighbor of the Kurdistan region.
He affirmed that the Kurdistan region adheres to the security agreement between Iran and Iraq, and assured that Kurdistan region will not allow Iran’s security to be threatened from within its region.
