Dr. Ali Khatibi, a senior official at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, announced the funding allocation during an international conference at Al-Zahra University in Tehran on Monday.
The decision was made at the request of Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Ali Zolfigol, after it was approved by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, he said.
Khatibi emphasized that the process of implementing the initiative is currently underway.
The planned investment in laboratory infrastructure is expected to bolster Iran’s scientific research capabilities and contribute to advancements in various fields of study.
Iranian researchers have achieved the top position among all Muslim nations globally when it comes to scientific citations in 2023, Ahmad Fazelzadeh, the director of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), told IRNA last month, citing the Scopus database.
The database also positions Iran as the 14th most cited country worldwide, highlighting the remarkable impact of Iranian scientific publications at the international level, he added.
