In a letter to the UN secretary general and the Security Council president, the Syrian Foreign Ministry demanded that American officials are held accountable for the looting of Syrian resources, and called for compensation, Syria’s SANA news agency reported on Sunday.
The ministry also called on the UN officials to help put an end to America’s “aggressive practices and violations of the principles of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter.”
It said that those violations “are being committed by the United States of America and its military forces that are illegally present on parts of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic in the northeast and in the Al-Tanf region in the southeast of the country”, according to SANA.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the US aims to exacerbate the effects of its “illegal unilateral coercive measures” and deprive Syrians of the capabilities of their homeland and to increase their suffering.
