The Iranian Embassy in Riyadh announced the departure of the Saudi delegation on Saturday.
They will be in attendance on the second and final day of the international event.
The embassy also announced that a delegation from Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts will leave for the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday, Sep. 10 to attend the 45th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
The visits of the Iranian and Saudi delegations follow the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries under a China-brokered deal they signed in March 2023. Tehran and Riyadh resumed their ties seven years after they were severed over protests in Iran against the Saudi execution of prominent cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
