Iran track & field championships conclude

Tehran, IRNA - Iran’s track and field championships, which have been held in both men's and women's categories on separate occasions, have come to an end.

The track and field championships took place at Aftabe Enghelab Sport Complex in the Iranian capital Tehran September 3 to 4, when a team from Razavi Khorasan province came in first.

The Razavi Khorasan team bagged five gold medals and one bronze, and Tehran team came in second place with four gold medals and two bronze, followed by East Azerbaijan team with two gold medals.

In this national competitions, two renowned Iranian athletes named Ehsan Haddadi and Hassan Taftian also contested in different sport events. Haddadi crowned first in the discus throw with a 60.03-meters record, and Taftian finished first in the 100-meter sprint with 10.16 seconds record.

This round of competitions concluded without any record-breaking result in the men’s competitions, while female Iranian athlete Shahla Mahmoudi managed to break a record in the 400-meter hurdles.
