-- Iran-Turkey seven-month trade surpasses $3b
Trade between Iran and Turkey in the first seven months of 2023 reached $3.025 billion, according to the latest figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).
The figure shows a 21-percent drop compared to corresponding figure of 2022, as Iran’s trade with the neighboring country stood at $3.846 billion in January-July 2022
-- Iran drills 195 oil, gas wells
National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) dug and completed the digging operations of 195 oil and gas wells since the current government took office in August 2021, the managing director of the company announced.
Hamidreza Golpayegani said the wells were discovery wells, development-delineation wells, and workover wells.
-- Owji reports 40% rise in Iran oil production capacity
Iran’s oil production capacity has jumped 40 percent since two years ago, said Oil Minister Javad Owji on Saturday.
He made the announcement following a recent meeting between the president and his cabinet ministers with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who insisted on making more investments with the aim of producing more oil.

-- Iran Joins Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities
Deputy Minister of the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage Ali Asghar Shalbafian announced Saturday that Iran has become a founding member of the International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities.
Referring to the International Alliance of Silk Road Tourism Cities in 2023, Shalbafian said the alliance, which started its work on Friday, was formed by the initiative of the Chinese government.
“57 cities from 26 countries are present in it, with the possibility of recruiting new members,” he added.
-- Iranian Firms Sign Contract With Afghanistan for Extracting, Processing Mines
Afghanistan’s ministry of mines and petroleum inked a contract, valued at over $6.5 billion, with the winners of domestic and foreign companies including two Iranian companies, for extracting and processing mines in the country.
The contract for seven mines worth more than $6.5 billion was signed on Thursday in the presence of the deputy PM for economic affairs.
Acting minister of petroleum and mines of the Taliban government Shahabuddin Delawar, speaking to the press at the contract-signing ceremony, said that there is complete transparency in the mining contracts.
-- FAO, Iran to Expand Agricultural Cooperation
Iran and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will enhance their cooperation in the agricultural sector with the aim of increasing agricultural productivity, maintaining sustainability and strengthening food security.
Change in the production method in the country both in the agricultural sector and other sectors is an inevitable necessity given climatic changes. The water shortage problem is one of the serious threats that jeopardizes the lives of creatures on the Earth to a great extent.

-- Iran fall short against Lebanon at 2023 FIBA World Cup
Iran basketball team lost to Lebanon 81-73 in their last match in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Saturday. Mohammad Amini scored for Iran 22 points, while Lebanon’s Arkaji Wael collected 21 points.
Iran basketball team lost to Brazil 100-59 in the opening match and suffered two more losses against Ivory Coast 71-69 and Spain 65–85 in Group G. Team Melli had also lost to France 82-55 in Group P.
-- Iran’s Semnan joins Intl. Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities
Iran has become a founding member of the International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities officially launched in China’s Jingdezhen on Friday as a tool to help broaden tourism cooperation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Iran’s deputy tourism minister Ali-Asghar Shalbafian, China-based diplomats, experts, and industry leaders from various countries. Initiated by the Chinese government, the alliance involves 57 cities from 26 countries, and it is open to adding new members, Shalbafian said.
-- Iranian taekwondo athletes win medals at 2023 Paris Grand Prix
Iranian athletes Mahdi Hajimousaei, Abolfazl Zandi and Mobina Nematzadeh won three medals on the first day of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix in Paris.
The men’s -58kg final brought together Hamjimousaei and his 19-year-old compatriot Abolfazl Zandi, who had fought in the Rome semi-final, which Hajimousaei had won. Zandi withdrew before the fight began.
