Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi met and held talks with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Amir Al-Shammari on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides inked an MoU on facilitating the commute of non-Iranian pilgrims who aim to cross Iran from Afghanistan and Pakistan to reach Iraq and participate in the Arbaeen ceremony.
Vahidi arrived at Baghdad International Airport on Tuesday morning to discuss issues related to the holding of the Arbaeen ceremony.
Arbaeen is a mourning ritual observed by Shia Muslims worldwide to mark the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), which falls on September 6 this year.
