Speaking to reporters on Monday, Amirabdollahian discussed the benefits of joining the BRICS group of emerging economies for Iran.
Pointing to the conditions of joining BRCIS, the top Iranian diplomat noted that from among the 40 countries applying to joint BRICS, Iran was evaluated as qualified by experts of five main member states to join the body.
The role of heads of states’ diplomacy in joining BRICS was significant, he said, adding that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi consulted with all heads of the five main countries in BRICS and the diplomatic apparatus used all its capacities, and finally active diplomacy led Iran to become an official member of the BRICS.
He reiterated that Iran has entered into a new coalition by joining BRICS that can boost economic power as well as international cooperation in a system based on multilateralism.
