Iranian court convicts US to pay $330m for role in Nojeh coup

Tehran, IRNA – A court in Tehran has ordered the US administration to pay $330 million in damages to survivors and victims of the Nojeh coup in Iran.

The verdict comes after a legal complaint was filed against the US authorities by the victims of the coup and seven other defendants.

During the trial, the case lawyer and survivors of the US terrorist act presented their defenses. The court found the US government guilty of inflicting material and moral damages upon the plaintiffs and ordered them to pay $30 million in compensation. Additionally, the court imposed $300 million in punitive damages.

The Nojeh coup was an attempt to overthrow the Islamic Republic on July 9, 1980. The plot was hatched by insurgents at the Nojeh Air Base near Kabudrahang in Hamedan province, which served as their command center. Their objective was to seize control of military bases across the country and target strategic centers and residences of the Revolution’s leaders. However, their efforts were thwarted.
