-- Iranian Army holds electronic warfare drill

A massive joint electronic warfare drill of various army units was held on Friday as domestically designed and manufactured equipment has boosted the country’s prowess in electronic warfare.
Codenamed Separ-e Hafezan-e Velayat 1402 (Shield of Velayat’s Guardians 1402), the drill aims to assess the performance and effectiveness of various fixed, mobile, ground-based and airborne electronic warfare systems.

-- Trump released from Georgia jail on $200k bond

Former US president Donald Trump was released on $200,000 bond and returned to the airport for the trip back to New Jersey.   According to jail records, Trump was freed on bond after undergoing the booking procedure at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, republicworld.com reported.
The former US president was arrested and booked at the Fulton County jail on Thursday night in connection with the Georgia election subversion case. He was in jail for roughly 20 minutes. His quick 20-minute booking resulted in a historic first: A mug shot of a former US president. Authorities issued a booking photo of Trump, dressed in a navy suit and crimson tie, aggressively scowling at the cameraman, with his eyebrows furrowed as he gazed into the lens.

--  Restoring Bakhtegan and Parishan wetlands a priority

The Governor of Fars province emphasized the significance and evident role of restoring Bakhtegan and Parishan wetlands for the well-being of people, making it a top priority.
During the 16th meeting of the Fars Wetland Restoration Headquarters, focusing on reviving Bakhtegan and Parishan wetlands, Mohammad Hadi Imaniyeh expressed concern about the impact of these two dry wetlands on the health of local communities. The drying process generates fine dust that negatively affects people’s health, underscoring the need to restore them with utmost care.

--  Yazd to Hold Children Theater Festival

 Iran’s central province of Yazd is host the 28th edition of the International Theater Festival for Children and Youth. The festival will be headed by Iranian director and writer Amir Mashadi-Abbas.
The International Theater Festival for Children and Youth is one of the important theater festivals in Iran. The event was previously held in Hamedan province.
The festival aims at strengthening the family’s foundation and communication across generations, teaching citizenship and encouraging young generations to shoulder the responsibility through providing a platform for children and teenagers to actively take part in the theatrical production. The upcoming edition of the International Theater Festival for Children and Youth will take place in November 2023.

-- SAIPA Co Expanding Into Russian Subcompact Market

CEO of SAIPA Muhammad Ali Teymouri has said Iran’s second largest carmaker SAIPA hopes it can expand its presence in the lucrative Russian car market with the supply of two subcompact models.
Teymouri said that the company hopes its Saina and Quik models can become popular in Russia, a country where other Iranian-made models have been successful in the past two years.
“With the analysis provided by Saipa’s Russian partners, the possibility for success of Saina and Quik is very high in this market,” said Teymouri while speaking to Iran’s IRNA news agency in a car show in the Russian capital Moscow.

-- Sardar Azmoun Joins AS Roma

Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun is scheduled to play for AS Roma, Iranian media outlets have reported. After the negotiations between Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, both sides finally agreed that Sardar Azmoun, the Iranian striker of Bayer Leverkusen, would go to Roma on loan.
Sardar Azmoun confirmed the reports in an interview with ISNA. Earlier, media outlets reported that Roma is looking to sign a center-forward this summer and they are close to sealing a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun.

--- Iran beat China at 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship semis

 Iran national volleyball team defeated China 3-0 (25- 20, 25-23, 25-23) in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship semifinals on Friday. Iran will play Japan, who beat Qatar 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 28-26) earlier in the day, in the final match on Saturday.

China will meet Qatar in the bronze medal match. The competition is being held in Urmia, Iran. Japan are the most decorated team with nine titles. South Korea and Iran have won the trophy four times each. Japan are the best Asian team in the FIVB ranking sitting in the fifth place, while Iran are in the 10th place.

--  Iranian reciter comes in second at Malaysia's International Quran Competition

Iranian reciter Alireza Bijani-Avval came in second at the recitation category of Malaysia's 63rd International Quran Competition, which was held in the country’s capital city Kuala Lumpur, from August 19 to 24. He delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday night, reciting some verses from Surah Al-A'raf and captivating the crowd at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre with his melodious voice and flawless recitation, ISNA reported on Thursday.

A total of 76 representatives from 52 countries competed in two categories of Quran recitation and memorization. In the recitation category, 24 men and 12 women competed, and there were 27 men and 13 women participating in the memorization category. 

--  Iran-China trade exceeds $8.5b in 7 months

 The value of trade between Iran and China reached $8.540 billion in the first seven months of the current year, registering an 11 percent decline, year on year. According to China’s Customs data, the Asian country’s export of products to Iran accounted for $6 billion of the total trade, Tasnim News Agency reported.

China’s export to the Islamic Republic in the January-July 2023 registered a 17 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
