Iranian writer, filmmaker Ebrahim Golestan passes away at 101

Tehran, IRNA - Ebrahim Golestan, Iranian storyteller, filmmaker and translator has passed away at the age of 101 in his home in the United Kingdom.

Born as Ebrahim Taghavi Shirazi, Golestan was recognized for his contributions to various artistic fields, including directing, photography, writing, journalism, and translation.

He breathed his last on Tuesday.

Golestan embarked on his literary journey by translating stories from authors such as Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner.

“Azar, the Last Month of Autumn,” “Hunt for the Shadow,” “Secrets of the Treasure of the Jinn Valley” and “The Rooster” are among his own literary works.

His filmmaking career included titles such as “A Fire,” “Hills of Marlik” and “The Crown Jewels of Iran.”

Golestan’s second child, Lili Golestan, is a translator and writer, and manager of the Golestan Gallery in Iran. His son, Kaveh Golestan, died in 2003 in a landmine explosion while working as a photographer in Iraq.
