Qalibaf made this statement during a joint press conference with his Algerian counterpart, Ibrahim Boughali, who was visiting Tehran on Monday morning.
He said that the two speakers had discussed the possibility of holding a virtual meeting among heads of parliaments of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) to condemn the desecration of Islamic sanctities, including Quran-burning in Western countries.
In addition to discussing this issue, Qalibaf also mentioned that one of the important topics in Iran-Algeria relations is the activation of the joint economic commission between the two states. Both sides are seeking to rapidly develop economic cooperation between their nations, he said.
Boughali, who was visiting Iran at the official invitation of Iranian authorities, stated that Algeria shares common stances with Iran and that his trip conveys a message of brotherhood between the two countries.
On the topic of insults to Islamic sanctities, Boughali said that Algeria cooperates and collaborates with other Muslim nations to prevent such incidents and believes that all faiths and religions must be respected.
