IRGC fast attack craft can sail at speed of 110 knots: Comdr.

Tehran, IRNA - The commander of Iran’s IRGC Navy has announced that domestically-developed fast attack craft are now capable of reaching speeds of 110 nautical knots (203 km/h).

Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said on Saturday that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has successfully enhanced the speed capabilities of its vessels in line with the directives of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces.

“Presently, we possess speed attack craft with the capacity to sail at speeds ranging between 90 to 110 knots,” Tangsiri said at a gathering of senior IRGC commanders in Tehran.

In addition, he said, the IRGC Navy is in possession of a powerful fleet of combat and reconnaissance drones.

“Today, the naval forces of the IRGC have various types of combat, reconnaissance, offensive, and hybrid drones,” he said.

The commander emphasized that the US aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf have to adhere to Iran’s maritime regulations as the IRGC naval forces maintain complete command over the strategic waterways.

Iranian military specialists and engineers have achieved significant advancements in producing a broad range domestic equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient.
