100,000 Pakistani pilgrims to attend Arbaeen rituals in Iraq: Official

Ilam, IRNA – Based on an agreement between the interior ministries of Iraq and Pakistan, some 100,000 Pakistani pilgrims will be allowed to go to Iraq to participate in Arbaeen rituals, according to Iran’s deputy interior minister.

Speaking to reporters in Western Iranian province of Ilam on Sunday, Majid Mirahmadi said that some 50,000 pilgrims from Afghanistan will also attend the ritual in Iraq.

Noting that non-resident foreigners can use Chazzabe border crossing in western Iran for travelling to Iraq, the official said that the pilgrims must not go to the border crossing before the 10th of the lunar Hijri month of Safar (August 27) so as to be more easily accepted by the Iraqi side.
