-- Iran begins construction of uranium complex in northwest

Iran began constructing a mining complex in the northwestern region of the country, which the Iranian nuclear chief has touted as a “hub” for producing raw materials needed for nuclear power production.
The project was launched in the Jang-e Sar region in Khoy, in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan on Thursday, following the discovery of radioactive materials and rare-earth elements there.

--  Iran’s ‘Eastwood’ selected for Japan’s Yamagata festival

The Iranian documentary ‘Eastwood,’ directed by Alireza Rasoulinejad and produced by the Documentary & Experimental Film Center, was chosen to be featured in the “Double Shadows” section of the 18th Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in Japan.
The Iranian film ‘Eastwood’ will be screened in the section titled ‘Double Shadows 3: People Who Transport Films’, highlighting its thematic alignment with the festival’s focus.

-- U-19 Volleyballers Down Belgium to Advance to Semifinals

Iran defeated Belgium 3-0 (25–20, 25–15, 25–12) to book a place in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U-19 World Championship semifinals. Earlier on Tuesday, Iran edged past Serbia 3-2 (11-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18, 15-12) at the event.
Taha Behboudnia and Muhammadreza Alejalil collected 14 points each for Iran, while Serbian Nikola Brboric scored 19 points. Iran had previously defeated South Korea, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Nigeria in Pool C. The U.S. will play France in the other semifinal match.

--  Iran Unveils New Uranium Mine in Khoy

Iran has unveiled a uranium mine in the northwestern Khoy region, which the Iranian nuclear chief has touted as a “hub” for producing raw materials needed for nuclear power production.
The project was launched in the Jang-e Sar region in West Azarbaijan province on Thursday, following the discovery of radioactive materials and rare-earth elements there.
Muhammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, told the launch ceremony that the complex can play a “significant role” in accelerating the country’s plan for nuclear electricity generation.

-- Syria, Iran Discuss Agricultural Cooperation

Iranian and Syrian officials engaged in discussions centered around cooperation in the field of agriculture, establishment of investments, and the sharing of expertise.
The talks occurred during a meeting on Wednesday between Syria’s Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohamed Hassan Qatana, and Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Hussein Akbari, along with their respective delegations.

--  South African leader says Pretoria fully backs Iran's inclusion in BRICS 

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian arrived in Tehran on Friday morning, concluding a visit to South Africa where he met the country’s high-level officials in Pretoria.

Amir Abdollahian and Naledi Pandor, the South African Minister of Cooperation and International Relations, signed a memorandum of understanding at the end of the expert panel deliberations of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission meeting. 

It followed after the regional director generals of the ministries of foreign affairs from both countries presented a report on the deliberations during the 15th meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of South Africa in Pretoria, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.

--  Vietnam Cultural Days held in Tehran

Vietnam Cultural Days was held in Tehran on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Iran and Vietnam. The cultural event took place from August 9 to 11 at the Iran Cinema Museum with the presence of a delegation of high-ranking government and cultural officials of Vietnam. 

The opening ceremony of the event was held on Wednesday evening in the presence of Iranian and Vietnamese officials, including Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue, the country’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Luong Quoc Huy.

--  Transit of goods via Iran rises 33% in 4 months on year

Transit of commodities through Iran increased by 33 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-July 22), the Ministry of Transport and Urban Development announced.

As reported, 4,006,500 tons of oil and non-oil products were transited via the country’s roads and railways during the four-month period. As previously announced by the Iranian deputy transport minister, 10.8 million tons of commodities were transited through the country in the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20).
