The top diplomat, who arrived at South African administrative capital Pretoria’s airport early Thursday morning, said that an Iranian team consisting of deputies and the private sector has been present in South Africa since Monday to finalize issues concerning cooperation between the two countries as well as preparing documents for an upcoming visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to South Africa.
President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa invited his Iranian counterpart to attend the Friends of BRICS Summit, which will be held at the level of heads of member states of the organization on August 24, Amirabdollahian stated, adding that a trip of the Iranian President to South Africa has been planned for the coming fall.
The Iranian FM concluded that South Africa is a significant country on the African continent that Iran has had long-standing relationship with, and the full revitalization of the ties is one of the plans on the agenda of President Raisi’s trip to the African country.
