“We are looking to increase the trade volume with Pakistan to $5 billion, and our next step after that is to achieve the trade volume of $10 billion per year,” Mehdi Safari told IRNA’s correspondent in Islamabad.
Safari, who is accompanying Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in an official visit to Islamabad, said the two countries will focus on barter trade to increase their trade volume.
On Thursday, Amirabdollahian and his Pakistani counterpart, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, signed a five-year strategic plan for commercial cooperation.
In a meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the latest bilateral political, economic and defense issues, including the development of trade ties, prisoner swap, and security at the common border.
