Amirabdollahian and his accompanying delegation were accorded an official welcome at the Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials and Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam late on Wednesday.
Amirabdollahian who was invited by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, starts his two-day trip to Islamabad and Karachi, for political and economic talks and meetings with high-ranking officials of Pakistan.
Earlier, Mehdi Safari, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, led an economic and trade delegation to Islamabad for talks with Pakistan about enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.
The official visit is in line with Iran's foreign policy strategy of enhancing relations with neighboring nations.
During the talks, both sides will explore opportunities to deepen the partnership between Iran and Pakistan.
The talks are also expected to encompass issues of border cooperation, trade enhancement, and collaborative efforts in addressing regional challenges.
Iran’s top diplomat will also discuss with Pakistani officials the necessity of a unified response from the Islamic countries to recent acts of desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark.
