Iran, Pakistan discuss upcoming meeting of Joint Economic Commission

Islamabad, IRNA – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari has called the expansion of trade ties between Iran and Pakistan a priority for the two countries and said that the delegations of the two sides in Pakistan discussed the upcoming meeting of the Joint Economic Commission.

In an interview with IRNA on Wednesday, Safari made the remarks at the end of the Iran-Pakistan economic talks in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The meeting that was held in Islamabad was a preliminary gathering for the upcoming meeting of the Joint Economic Commission that will be held in Tehran, Safari said.

The two sides reviewed all the issues and agreements of the two countries in detail at the previous meeting of the Joint Commission, he said, adding that members of the two delegations exchanged views and concluded border issues, markets, increased trade, especially the bartering mechanism, cooperation in the energy and various sectors, and subsequently bilateral documents will be signed.

Establishing the airlines between Iran and Pakistan was seriously pursued and they are determined to launch more flights between the cities of Iran and Pakistan, he underlined.
