– Iran, Belarus sign MoU to boost defense cooperation

The defense chiefs of Iran and Belarus signed a memorandum of understanding to improve cooperation in the defense sector.
The MoU was signed by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani and his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin following a meeting in Tehran on Monday.

-- Iran sees new market for its drones in South America

Iran is seeing new demand for its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), with Bolivia expressing interest in obtaining Iranian drones, a development that shows Tehran’s focus on deepening its alliances in South America. Bolivia’s defense minister has recently confirmed his country’s interest in acquiring Iranian drones, days after he visited Tehran for a bilateral meeting.
Bolivia is interested in obtaining Iranian drone technology to protect its borders and combat smuggling and drug trafficking, the Andean country’s Defense Minister Edmundo Novillo said on July 26, a day after Argentina expressed concern about an agreement reached between Iran and Bolivia and demanded information on the deal.

--  Iran’s four-month imports of basic goods top $4.7b: IRICA

Iran imported 7.352 million tons of basic commodities worth $4.763 billion in the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21-July 22), 6.21 percent less than the figure for last year’s same period. According to the data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the imports of basic goods in the four months decreased by 1.57 percent in terms of weight.

-- Tehran to Host Iran Confair 2023 in August

The 23rd edition of the Iran International Building and Construction Exhibition dubbed “Iran Confair 2023” will be held at Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on August 3-6.
The exhibition will be held by the Iran Chamber of Cooperatives on a land area of over 100,000 square meters with the participation of 800 domestic and foreign exhibitors.

--  Owji: Iran Will Not Tolerate ‘Loss of Rights’ in Disputed Gas Field

Iranian Petroleum Minister Javad Owji says the country will not stand idle in the face of any move by Kuwait or by Saudi Arabia on a disputed gas field in the Persian Gulf that could lead to a loss of rights for Tehran.
Owji made the remarks, a day after Kuwait said the Arab country will start drilling at Durra field, known in Iran as Arash, without waiting for a settlement of maritime border disputes with Iran.

-- Deputy FM: Iran Eyes Developing Trade Ties With African Countries

Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari said on Monday that Iran attaches great importance to developing trade and economic relations with African countries.
Speaking at the first get-together of Iran trade centers overseas, Safari stated that the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi has prioritized increasing trade and economic ties with neighboring and regional states.

--  Iran’s beach soccer can grow further, coach says

Ali Naderi, head coach of Iran beach soccer team, believes that the sport has immense potential in the country, and it can grow further with more support. The beach soccer team performed well at the 2023 Nation's Cup in Saint Petersburg, Russia, winning against Senegal 5-1 and the UAE 10-0. However, they lost to Russia 4-3 and finished in second place.

“The Iranian players can truly shine on the international stage if they get the right support,” said Naderi in his interview with Tehran Times.

 Director Hadi Marzban is currently rehearsing for the restaging of "Theatrical Company," a captivating farce play written by the legendary stage and screen actor, Ali Nasirian.

“Currently, we are fully engaged in rehearsing and making the necessary preparations for our production of "Theatrical Company”,” Marzban, who has previously staged this play, said on Monday.

-- Bank loans to economic sectors up nearly 26% in 3 months

Iranian banking system has paid 9.21 quadrillion rials (about $18.83 billion) of facilities in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), registering a 25.8-percent rise from the figure in the same period of the previous year, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced.

As reported, of the total facilities, 7.849 quadrillion rials (about $16.05 billion) equivalent to 85.2 percent, was paid to the business owners (real and legal), and 665.6 trillion rials (about $2.78 billion) equivalent to 14.8 percent, to the final consumers (households).
