Brigadier Alireza Roodbari said on Monday that combat operations, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare are being carried out by domestically-produced drones in Velayat drills.
He went on to say that Karrar bomber drones had for a first time destroyed targets with 500-pound bombs, a task that was previously carried and only by F4 and F5 fighter jets.
Earlier on Sunday when announcing the start of the drills, the commander of the Iranian Air Force Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi had said that all Air Force bases would be actively involved in the exercises with Shahid Babaei Air Base in Isfahan province taking the lead.
Vahedi said during the maneuver, a versatile fleet of 92 aircraft will carry out an array of aerial operations, including reconnaissance missions, bombing of air and ground targets, psychological warfare tactics, and electronic warfare simulations.
