The Gachsaran petrochemical complex, a project that has cost some $1.4 billion, was inaugurated on Monday in a ceremony in the presence of President Ebrahim Raisi in the southwest city of Gachsaran in Iran's Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province.
Raisi said in the inauguration ceremony that the fact that the Gachsaran petrochemical plant, which has mostly relied on the potentials of Iranian experts and companies, is a true example of Iran's resistance in the face of [US-imposed] sanctions.
Iran's Oil Minister Javad Owji said that over 83% of the project has been constructed by the local companies and workforce, saving Iran over 269 million euros.
Owji said some 70 Iranian firms have contributed to designing, building, and installing vital equipment in the project.
