-- Iran still largest producer of saffron: Association head
By producing 90 percent of the world’s saffron, Iran is still the largest producer of saffron in the world, said the head of the Saffron Exporters Association.
Talking to Iran Daily, Gholamreza Miri added that the country’s saffron exports in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year have increased by 63% in weight compared to the same period last year.
Referring to the growing trend of Iran’s saffron exports in the current Iranian year thus far, which hit 239 tons, he added that if the trend continues, the figure will exceed 325 tons by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2024).
-- China to invest in key industrial projects: Iranian minister
China has agreed to invest in major projects in Iran, Iranian Finance Minister Ehsan Khandouzi said Sunday, after attending the first Joint Economic Development Commission of Iran and China held in Beijing following a hiatus of four and a half years.
Khandouzi said the investment projects focused on the sectors of energy, industry, mining, agriculture, and healthcare. China stands as Iran’s primary trading partner, with a significant share of Iran’s trade, including imports and exports, amounting to 24% of the total trade volume.
-- Iran VP hails French court’s rejection of US anti-Iran verdict
Iran’s vice president for legal affairs hailed the French Supreme Court’s decision to reject a US request to confiscate $247 million in Iranian assets and said that it marked an important achievement for the Islamic Republic.
On June 28, the French Court of Cassation upheld a March 2021 verdict by a court of appeal that refused the US call for confiscating Iranian assets as per a US federal court verdict in 1998.
“This decision marks a very important legal achievement for the Islamic Republic of Iran and the [Raeisi] administration because it cemented the failure of the US pressures to have their rulings recognized and implemented in Europe,” Mohammad Dehqan said on Saturday.

-- Envoy: Denmark Continues to Invest in Iran Despite Sanctions
The Danish ambassador to Iran Jesper Vahr has said that despite the sanctions against Iran, Denmark is among the countries that have continued to invest in Iran.
Jesper Vahr made the remarks in a meeting with the governor of Isfahan province.
Stating that Isfahan is a cultural province with very high potential, the Danish official said “Our cultural interactions with Iran have been at an ordinary level.”
-- Iran to Inaugurate Tallest RCC Dam in West Asia
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian on Monday will inaugurate the Chamshir Dam, the tallest Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam in West Asia, in Boyer-Ahmad province.
The Chamshir Dam has a height of 151 meters, a reservoir capacity of 2.3 billion cubic meters of water, a lake with a length of 48 kilometers and a land area as large as 51 square kilometers at the normal level. The construction operation of the dam started in 2012 after winning the necessary licenses from the concerned organizations. Its construction cost about €230 million.
-- Economy Minister: China, Iran to Witness Bright Future in Trade, Investment Sector
Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Seyed Ehsan Khandouzi on Sunday said that his country and China will witness a promising future in the fields of trade and investment.
In a post on his Twitter account, Khandouzi wrote that officials of the two countries have braced for accelerating cooperation in the field of trade and investment.
He pointed to the Iran-China Joint Economic Cooperation Commission and added that the meeting of the commission was held after four and a half years.

-- Iran, Russia mull forming cooperative shipping company: envoy
Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, has said authorities in Tehran and Moscow are exploring the formation of a cooperative shipping firm as part of efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation.
Jalali made the announcement in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Friday as he pointed to efforts to strengthen Tehran-Moscow’s maritime fleet.
-- “Endless Borders” wins award at Yerevan Golden Apricot festival
The Iran-Czech co-production “Endless Borders” by Iranian director Abbas Amini was honored at the 20th edition of Yerevan Golden Apricot International Film Festival, which came to an end in the Armenian capital on Sunday.
The film received the Golden Apricot at the Regional Panorama section dedicated to feature and documentary film competition from West Asia. “Endless Borders”, opens in Baluchestan, in a small, scarcely “wired” village bordering Iran and Afghanistan, where complicated entanglements occur when an exiled Iranian teacher finds himself helping a refugee Afghan family fleeing the Taliban.
-- West Karoun oilfields output up 20,000 bpd in nearly 4 months
The managing director of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company (AOGC), which is a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) operating oil fields located in the West Karoun region, has said the output from West Karoun oil fields has increased by 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21).
Speaking in a meeting with Head of Petroleum Engineering Development Company (PEDEC) Abouzar Sharifi and some of the region’s oil industry officials, Abdollah Ozari said: “We were able to increase oil production in West Karoun by 20,000 barrels by moving some of the oil flow lines of wells in South Azadegan field to prevent oil pushing back from high-pressure wells to low-pressure ones.”
