In their final declaration at a summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, member states of the Western military alliance on Tuesday called on Iran to “cease its military support to Russia, in particular its transfer of Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).”
The Iranian Embassy in Brussels issued a statement on Thursday, rejecting the “baseless” allegation aimed at “gaining short-term benefits.”
The diplomatic mission said that Iran has maintained neutrality ever since the ongoing war in Ukraine began in February 2022.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, as an influential player that respects law, puts emphasis on full commitment to the UN Charter’s regulations as well as international law, including respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, the statement added.
It also rejected NATO allegations regarding Iran’s nuclear energy program, and reiterated the country’s determination to remain committed to its obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA), despite the fact that some NATO members -- which are signatory to the accord -- have kept violating their own commitments.
The statement also said that Iran has always played a leading role in fighting all forms of terrorism in the international arena, and helped countries in West Asia confront “destabilizing forces supported by extra-regional powers.”
