Issa Zarepour met and held talks with Sadiq Iftikhar on the sideline of the third meeting of telecommunication ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Tehran, Iran on Wednesday.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides signed an MoU to bolster ties in the fields of space, infrastructure, platforms and messengers, data transit, post and financial post, education and innovation, regulation, and information technology.
A third meeting of telecommunication ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) kicked off on Wednesday morning to find ways to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation on communications issues between ECO member countries, among other objectives.
Founded as the Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) in 1964 by Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye, the forum was renamed the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in 1985. The organization currently has 10 members; namely, Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Its stated goal is to provide a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade and investment opportunities in the region.
