Ziad al-Nakhala made the remarks in an exclusive interview with IRNA which was published on Sunday, during which he expounded on the recent battle of Jenin as well as the relations between the Islamic Jihad and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said that the battle is the extension of previous battles in the Jenin refugee camp and its surroundings and will be an inspiration for all Palestinians in the future.
“Today, all resistance groups have very good relations with Iran, and Iran provides support to all resistance movements and stands by the Palestinian nation,” Nakhala further told IRNA.
It came a week after the Zionist regime launched a major onslaught against Palestinians in the occupied city of Jenin and its refugee camp, killing a dozen Palestinians and injuring dozens more.
Meanwhile, the number of operations carried out by Palestinian resistance forces against Zionist forces and settlers has spiked in the aftermath of the Israeli aggression on Jenin.
Nakhalah further said the battle will be an inspiration for all Palestinians in the future, adding that this is a historic achievement for the Palestinian resistance forces, who confronted an enemy armed with all kinds of weapons and drove them out.
“We are seriously striving to expand the Jenin model to all Palestinian cities and regions, and the Palestinian youth are ready to do this,” he said.
What happened in Jenin, according to the Islamic Jihad chief, was in line with the failed attempt of the occupiers to eradicate the resistance, and it may happen in any area the Zionist regime sees as a serious threat to its forces and illegal settlements.
He noted that the settlements have grown “like cancer” in the occupied West Bank, and therefore, the model of Palestinian resistance in Jenin and popular support for it should be a model for all Palestinian cities and villages.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Nakhalah said the Islamic Jihad’s relationship with Hamas is strategic, and there are specific and determined criteria, which are Islam, Jihad and Palestine forming this relationship. “These values do not change and have no substitute, and we will all remain committed to basic principles.”
“We disagree with the Palestinian Authority in terms of political position, but our weapon remains against the enemy. If the Palestinian Authority was wise, it would have used the state of resistance,” he said.
“When it comes to the relationship between the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement and Iran, this is not new, because all resistance forces have excellent relations with Iran today, and this country supports all resistance movements and stands by the Palestinian people at all levels.”
He also called upon all Arab and Islamic countries to fulfill their duties toward Palestine and support the Palestinian resistance.
