Iran has opened another section of a costly road project that connects the capital Tehran to the Caspian Sea in the north of the country.

– 39 percent growth in Iran’s tourism industry in 2022

The World Travel and Tourism Council has reported a 39.2 percent growth in Iran’s tourism industry in 2022, with the industry’s value reaching 454 trillion Iranian rials (one billion dollars).
It has also announced that foreign tourists spent $6.2 billion in Iran during the same year.
According to IRNA, the World Travel and Tourism Council has revealed a 22 percent growth in the tourism industry’s share of global GDP in 2022. This industry managed to capture 7.6 percent of the world’s GDP in the same year. In 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the global tourism industry faced a significant decline of 50.4 percent in its share of the global economy, resulting in a reduction of $4.9 trillion in its value. However, in 2021, with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the industry experienced a growth of 21.7 percent, and in 2022, it witnessed a 22 percent growth in its contribution to the global economy, reaching an increased value of $7.7 trillion.

– Iran Beat Hong Kong at Asian Women’s Junior Handball

The Iranian women defeated hosts Hong Kong 45-16 at the 2023 Asian Women’s Junior Handball Championship on Friday. Iran will qualify for the 24th IHF Women’s Junior (U20) Handball World Championship if defeat Kazakhstan in the Asian championship on Saturday.
The Iranian team lost to China 29-23 and Chinese Taipei 28-18 and defeated Uzbekistan 37-36 and India 39-31.

– Iran Says Has Court Order to Seize U.S. Tanker

Iran said on Thursday it had a court order to seize a U.S. tanker in Persian Gulf waters a day earlier after it collided with an Iranian vessel.
The Richmond Voyager, a Bahamas-flagged oil tanker, had collided with an Iranian vessel and the Iranian navy had a court order to seize it, the Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Iran’s Hormozgan Province told the official IRINN news agency.
Iran said the Richmond Voyager’s collision with an Iranian ship carrying seven crew members had injured five people and caused flooding on board, and that the tanker had not stopped after the incident. The Iranian ship’s owner then requested the tanker be seized, IRINN said.

– WSA: Iran Produces 70% of Middle East’s Crude Steel

Iran’s production of crude steel accounted for 70% of the Middle East’s total output during the first five months of 2023, the latest data released by the World Steel Association indicate.
Iranian steelmakers produced 13 million tons of crude steel from January to May this year, registering a 2.2% rise compared with the corresponding period of last year, Financial Tribune reported.
Steel producers located in the Middle East, including Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, together produced a total of 18.7 million tons of steel during the period, up 1.1% year-on-year.

–Iran blasts UK for inviting Ukraine to UN Security Council meeting

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN has expressed the Islamic Republic’s adamant objection to the participation of a representative of Ukraine at the UN Security Council meeting, saying the UK is attempting to divert attention away from its failure to uphold its obligations under the JCPOA.

Addressing the Security Council meeting on Thursday, Saeed Iravani said, “We strongly object to the Presidency of the Council extending an invitation to a member state that has no direct or indirect relevance to the agenda item of this meeting.”

– Iranian audience radiates astonishing level of positivity, Peruvian stage director says

The level of positive energy emanating from the Iranian theater audience is truly remarkable, Peruvian director Hugo Suárez, who is currently in Tehran to take part in the 19th edition of the Mobarak Puppet Theater Festival, has said.

“We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous positivity emanating from the Iranian audience,” Suárez, who staged “Body Rhapsody” at the festival, explained on Thursday.

– Iranian oil minister pursues energy diplomacy in Vienna

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oji who traveled to Vienna to attend the 8th OPEC International Seminar, held talks with several energy officials on the sidelines of the event to pursue the Islamic Republic’s energy diplomacy in the region.
