Major General Mohammad Baqeri made the remarks via a message released on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Beheshti and 72 high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic who were assassinated by the MKO terrorists over four decades ago.
Today, he underlined, is the symbol of the oppressed people who were just guilty of independence-seeking and defying foreign dominance.
The fate of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein who hosted the MKO for many years and was executed in 2006, and the fate of the terrorist group that was not welcomed by any European country should be considered a lesson, the top military commander underlined.
Ayatollah Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti, the then Chief Justice of the Islamic Republic, and 72 senior officials of the country were martyred on June 28, 1981, in a bomb blast by the MKO terrorist group.
