-- Tehran, Doha sign deal on skilled workforce plan

Iranian and Qatari ministers signed an agreement to cooperate on a skilled workforce program that will enable Qatar to recruit Iranian experts and technicians in various economic and industrial projects.
The signing ceremony was held in Tehran on Monday with the participation of Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi and Qatari Minister of Labor Ali bin Samikh al-Marri.

-- Pakistan moves closer to IMF deal

BLOOMBERG – Pakistan’s race to restart a stalled International Monetary Fund loan program took a positive turn as the country made a dramatic final attempt to appease the lender less than a week before the facility ends.
After days of talks with the IMF, the South Asian nation agreed to change its budget for the next fiscal year, pledging to raise taxes and cut expenses in a bid to cut its fiscal deficit.

-- Calligraphy, an important fine art in the East

While in the West calligraphy is considered mainly penmanship, in the East it is one of the most important fine arts.
Calligraphers were an essential requirement for any self-respecting court, and very often princes and nobles practiced calligraphy themselves. Moreover, prohibition against figurative art in mosques, and with an emphasis put on literacy and knowledge, Islamic leaders imparted further importance to the written word in the Islamic world.

-- Iranian Economy Shows Signs of Recovery

Iran, according to Fars news agency, attracted $6.05 billion of foreign investment between August 2021 when President Ebrahim Raisi came to office and March 2023, up 84.3% compared to the same period in the previous administration.
The former government, contrary to its posturing, gave short shrift to this important avenue for bringing in foreign capital and technology in the belief that it was unachievable without first reviving the 2015 nuclear deal and having Iran removed from the Paris-based FATF group’s blacklist.

-- Saadi Foundation to Hold Persian Courses

The Saadi Foundation is to hold a Persian language summer school for learners at all levels of proficiency from August 14 to September 3. The program is suitable for learners at all levels of proficiency and helps them become more proficient in Farsi by immersing themselves in a Persian-speaking environment for three weeks.

The course will cover sessions that will last a total of 60 hours. Recreational visits to attractions in Tehran are also a part of the activities planned for the summer school of Saadi Foundation.

-- Iran Prepares for Print Pack and Paper Exhibition

The ‎registration for the 30th Iran Print ‎Pack & Paper Exhibition has been finalized, head of the director’s board of Arvin Mehr Fajr Company says.
Jalil Ghaffari Rahbar said the exhibition, to be held through December 13-16, will be attended by over 400 domestic companies. The event will be held in 10 halls in an area of area of 16,000 square meters at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground.

--  Ruholamin centers on scientific life of Imam Baqir (AS) in new painting

 Hassan Ruholamin has underlined the scientific status of Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS), the fifth Imam of the Shia, in his latest painting. Best known for his paintings of stories from the history of Islam, the impressionist artist unveiled the artwork Sunday on the eve of the Imam’s martyrdom anniversary.

The painting depicts the Imam and his students in a class. In a note for the painting, he wrote, “Imam Baqir (AS) inaugurated a seminar for learning and discussions in Medina.”

--  Iran’s 3-month non-oil trade stands at $26.5b

 Iran’s non-oil trade stood at 44.1 million tons worth $26.5 billion during the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), according to the data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Based on the IRICA data, the country’s non-oil export reached 35.5 million tons worth $12.5 billion, while the imports were 8.6 million tons valued at $14 billion in the first quarter of the current year.

-- Iran calls Interpol for support to combat organized crimes

 Iranian international police chief Majid Karimi has called on the global community and Interpol to support the country in dealing with organized crimes.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been decisive and serious in dealing with various organized crimes in the region and the world, he added. Karimi made the remarks in a meeting with Jürgen Stock, the secretary-general of Interpol.
