-- 26th int’l ELECOMP kicks off in Tehran
The 26th International Exhibition of Electronics, Computer and E-Commerce (ELECOMP) was inaugurated in Tehran on Sunday in a ceremony attended by Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Issa Zarepour.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition, Zarepour said that the speed of mobile internet in Iran has doubled since the administration of President Ebrahim Raeisi took office in August 2021.
-- Chinese demand for Iran oil to increase further: Analyst
A senior oil market analyst said demand for Iranian crude oil in China could increase to record levels this summer despite continued US pressure on Iranian oil exports.
Homayoun Falakshahi, an analyst with Kpler, a major international energy data and analytics group, said that China “will become thirstier for Iranian oil” in the coming months mainly because of a potential drop in Russian supplies.
-- Islamic Revolution saved Iran from moral, political decline: Leader
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei reiterated that the 1979 Islamic Revolution saved Iran from sinking into a moral, religious, and political decline, crediting the heroic sacrifices of martyrs and their families for the epic movement.
“Your martyrs changed the country’s fate in one of the most critical periods of its history,” the Leader emphasized on Sunday while addressing a large crowd of family members of Iranian martyrs in Tehran.

-- UK-Iran Trade Grows 17% in Q1 2023
Figures by British Department of Business and Trade show that total trade in goods and services between the UK and Iran was £27 million in the first quarter of 2023 showing a 17% growth compared to the same period last year. Of this £27 million in the first quarter of 2023, total UK exports to Iran amounted to £20 million which shows a 25% surge compared to the corresponding period last year, according to the factsheet released by the British Department of Business and Trade.
Total UK imports from Iran amounted to £7 million which has not changed compared to the same period last year.
-- Canada Refusing to Cooperate on Extradition of Ex-Banker
The spokesman for the Iranian judiciary says the Canadian government does not cooperate with Iran in the extradition of the former CEO of Bank Melli Iran, who is accused of multi-billion dollar corruption.
Mahmoud-Reza Khavari is known as an accomplice in the 2011 Iranian embezzlement scandal, involving $3 billion. In 2005, he was awarded a Canadian citizen and has reportedly fled to that country.
He was the chairman of Bank Melli Iran until September 2011 and is now wanted by Interpol.
-- Iran Rebukes UN Abuse List for Dropping Zionist Regime
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sunday the dark record of the Zionist regime in killing children and minors should be a “source of shame” for the illegal entity’s Western supporters.
In a Twitter thread, Nasser Kanaani rebuked an annual report on children’s human rights abuses by the United Nations -- scheduled to be released next week -- for excluding the occupying regime of Israel.
The annual report on children’s human rights covers the killing, maiming, sexual abuse, abduction of children, denial of aid access and targeting of schools and hospitals in conflict zones.

-- Children’s books on Qassem Soleimani published in Arabic
The Iranian publisher Rah-e Yar has recently published three books on General Qassem Soleimani in Arabic. Written by Iranian writers, “The Last Apple”, “A Hero Like Me” and “A Man Who Could Speak to Pigeons” have previously been published in Persian by the publishing company.
The books have previously been showcased at several international book fairs in Lebanon, Iraq and several other countries.
-- 1,286 idle small-scale mines revived in 4 years
Iranian Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry has managed to revive 1,286 idle small-scale mines throughout the country over the past four years, the director of the ministry’s program for reviving idle mines said.
According to Abbas Jorjani, since the Iranian calendar year 1398 (ended in March 2020) when the mentioned program was officially started, over 17,100 job opportunities have also been created in the revived mines.
