-- Iran enjoys high potential in exports of agro-products: MP

A member of the Agriculture, Water, Natural Resources and Environment Committee of the Iranian Parliament said Iran has high export capacities in the agricultural sector.

With correct planning, along with solving problems in the field of export of agricultural products, Iran’s share in supplying agricultural products to regional markets can increase by 50 percent, which can bring good foreign exchange for the country, Jalal Mahmoudzadeh told Iran Daily. We now officially have about six percent of the market of agricultural products in the region, the MP noted.

-- Iran-Russia joint work on Rasht-Astara railway project progressing well: Envoy

Iran’s ambassador to Russia said that Moscow and Tehran are moving ahead in their joint work on the construction of Rasht-Astara railway section, Tasnim news agency wrote.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd International Altai Forum, Kazem Jalali stated, “The agreement [on the project] was signed in the presence of the two presidents, and now the transport ministries of our two states are preparing to put the agreement into practice. We think that both countries have shown their seriousness in this matter, and we are moving ahead.”

--  IME weekly trade tops $692m

Within the week ending on June 23, the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) witnessed trade of 3,127,518 tons of commodities and 70 vehicles with a total value of more than $692 million on its physical market, posting a growth of 11.3% in terms of value compared to the figures of the previous week.
According to a report by ime.co.ir on Saturday, the exchange saw on its metals and minerals trading floor trade of 2,613,727 tons of commodities and 70 vehicles worth nearly $480 million.

-- Iran Says Backs Rule of Law in Russia 

Iran said Saturday it supports the rule of law in the Russian Federation in the wake of a mutiny led by the chief of the Wagner group.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said the recent developments in Russia were a domestic issue. Iran’s Nour News said in a tweet Wagner’s action could lead to “destructive psychological consequences” amid the war in Ukraine. But it added that the group lacked the minimum capabilities to stand up as a force to reckon with.

-- Iranian Envoy Slams Seizure of Afghan Assets

Iran’s UN ambassador deplored the seizure of Afghanistan’s foreign assets and the unilateral sanctions as the factors that have exacerbated the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

Addressing a meeting of the UN Security Council on “Situation in Afghanistan”, Saeed Iravani said the seizure of Afghanistan’s foreign assets and unilateral sanctions have significantly exacerbated the current situation, posing substantial external obstacles to effectively addressing the humanitarian situation in the country.

-- Brazil, Iran Emphasize Expanding Agricultural Cooperation

Iranian Deputy Ministry of Agriculture for Commercial and Development Affairs Ahmad Khani Nozari and a Brazilian trade delegation in Tehran on Saturday stressed the need to expand and enhance cooperation in the field of agriculture.
In a joint meeting held between Iranian Deputy Ministry of Agriculture for Commercial and Development Affairs Ahmad Khani Nozari and a Brazilian trade delegation in Tehran on Saturday, the two sides discussed the development of bilateral ties and boosting the exchanges of agricultural and stockbreeding products.

--  Iran’s monthly crude steel output up 8.8% yr/yr: WSA

 The World Steel Association (WSA), in its latest annual report, announced that the production of crude steel in Iran rose 8.8 percent in May 2023, from May 2022. The report said that Iran produced 3.3 million tons of crude steel in May of this year.

Iran’s crude steel production also increased by 2.2 percent to 13 million tons in the first five months of 2023, as compared to the same period of time in the past year.

--  Export from Iran to India rises 6% in 4 months on year

 The value of Iran’s export to India increased by six percent during the first four months of 2023, as compared to the same period of time in 2022, according to the data released by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Iran’s export to India stood at $257 million in January-April 2023, while the figure was $242 million in January-April 2022. India’s export to Iran fell 29 percent from $631 million in the first four months of 2022 to $445 million in the first four months of this year.

--  Insurance service to be provided for traditional medicine

The Ministry of Health is planning to start offering insurance services for at least three branches of traditional medicine by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2024).

Considering the necessity of integrating traditional medicine services in the health system and covering at least three services by the end of the year, this important issue has been seriously placed on the agenda of the Ministry of Health, Nafiseh Hosseini Yekta, the director of the health ministry’s Persian medicine office, said.
