The announcement on the return of the aircraft to service came on Saturday, a week after a Boeing 737 belonging to Iran's Caspian Airlines which had been grounded for five years returned to service last week.
Iran's Caspian Airlines has announced that local technicians had carried out C-check, a maintenance program which is performed approximately every 20–24 months, the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft.
Caspian Airlines is one of the first users of McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft and Boeing 737 in Iran and is able to carry out all periodical checks based on international standards.
Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi's administration has sought to meet the increasing demand for air travel in the country by pursuing various strategies, including purchase of secondhand airplanes carrying overhaul programs on grounded planes as well as supporting initiatives to manufacture home-grown airplane models.
