Iran Greco-Roman wrestlers finish 2nd in Turkish tournament

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestling team has finished second in the 40th Vehbi Emre & Hamit Kaplan Tournament 2023 in Turkiye with one gold, four silver, and four bronze medals.

The international wrestling competitions were held in Istanbul on June 21-22.

In the end, Saeed Esmaeili clinched the gold medal in the 67kg; and Mohammad-Mahdi Javaher in the 55kg, Meysam Delkhani in the 66kg, Sajjad Imen-Talab in the 72kg, and Jamal Esmaeil in the 82kg won silver medals.

Amir-Mohammad Yarmohammadzahi in the 63kg, Amin Kavianinejad in the 77kg, Pejman Poshtam in the 87kg, and Morteza Alghousi in the 130kg won bronze medals.

Turkish wrestlers won the championship with 220 points, Iran finished second with 169 points, and Hungary finished third with 111 points.
